Types Of Teeth Whitening We Offer

Take-Home & In-Office Whitening

We offer both take-home teeth whitening and in-office UV and laser whitening. Take-home teeth whitening is a great option if you want to spend less time in the dentist’s chair. Using a set of custom-built trays, you can whiten your teeth subtly in the comfort of your own home. You’ll get identical results as in-office whitening, though the process will take a bit longer.

In-office whitening, on the other hand, is the best option if you want to get the fastest possible results from your treatment. In this process, Dr. Yavari will whiten your teeth using chemical whiteners and UV or laser light to boost its effectiveness, resulting in a smile that’s 5-10 shades brighter in just one appointment.

How It Works

The Teeth Whitening Process

The process of teeth whitening will differ depending on whether you choose take-home teeth whitening or in-office whitening.

If you choose take-home whitening, you’ll come to NexGen Dentistry to get a set of impressions taken of your teeth. These will be used by a dental lab to create a pair of whitening trays that will fit perfectly onto your teeth. You’ll come back in 1-2 weeks to get your trays and a set of whitening products, as well as instructions on how to whiten your teeth from Dr. Yavari. Then, you’ll simply whiten your teeth according to Dr. Yavari’s instructions in the comfort of your own home.

In-office whitening is a bit different. To begin the process, Dr. Yavari will clean your teeth and apply a protectant to your gums. Then, she will use retractors to separate your gums, lips, and tongue from your teeth, and apply a powerful whitener, which will be activated with a UV/laser light. Then, the whitener will be rinsed away, and this process will be repeated several times. It usually takes about 1 hour to have your teeth whitened with in-office teeth whitening.

What To Expect

Teeth Whitening Aftercare

Teeth whitening does not require any special aftercare. Your teeth may feel somewhat sensitive, but this will go away after a few days. You can use antisensitivity toothpaste like Sensodyne to deal with tooth sensitivity after teeth whitening.

Professional Teeth Whitening

Vs. Over-The-Counter Whitening Kits

It may be tempting to try to save money by using a DIY, over-the-counter teeth whitening kit to brighten your smile. But this is not always a good idea. Products that are not approved by the ADA may not be effective, or may have very high levels of peroxide that could damage your teeth and gums with improper use.

In addition, over-the-counter kits may not provide great results, since they’re not customized for your smile and often treat only your front six upper and lower teeth. But with professional teeth whitening from Dr. Yavari, you will get customized treatment, guaranteed results and peace of mind. For these reasons and quite a few more, we highly recommend choosing professional teeth whitening and cosmetic dentistry instead of over-the-counter whitening kits.
