Keeping Appointments Informative and Fun

What to Expect at Our Office

If your child is between 1-2 years old and only has some of their baby teeth, you’ll simply hold them on your lap while Dr. Yavari cleans and inspects their gums and teeth. Then, she’ll discuss your child’s oral health with you and answer any questions you may have about their smile.

For kids who are 2-3 years of age or older, and have all of their baby teeth, you can expect a standard teeth cleaning and oral exam, just like an adult would get. One of our hygienists will remove plaque and tartar from their teeth, buff their teeth with a high-powered toothbrush, and floss their teeth. Then, Dr. Yavari will perform a comprehensive oral exam. X-rays may be recommended if Dr. Yavari thinks they’re necessary and you approve.

Encouraging Happy, Healthy Smiles

At-Home Care Tips for Kids

The most important thing you can do is brush your child’s teeth twice a day for two minutes using fluoride toothpaste. You should floss their teeth at least once per day, as well. Kids can usually start brushing on their own at about the age of 6, while they may not be able to learn to floss on their own until the age of about 10.

In addition, maintain a healthy diet low in sugary foods and drinks to help prevent tooth decay and keep their smiles strong. And don’t forget to schedule a six-month teeth cleaning and oral exam with Dr. Yavari.
